Unit 2 is delivered in year 11 and it builds on the key principles and theory developed in Unit 1 but focuses on Growing a Business; the concepts learnt in year 10 are applied to global organizations and students learn how ownership, business operations and management structures change as companies grow.
Unit 3 is a controlled assessment which consists of researching a contemporary business issue, such as the need for Social Enterprises.
This qualification is designed for learners who want an introduction to business and enterprise that includes a vocational and hands on element.
It has been developed to enthuse and inspire learners about a career in business and enterprise.

Our aims are: At KS4, Business is an optional subject which pupils can take at Level 2. GCSE Business is based around an ‘enterprise and skills’ approach to learning.It introduces students to the world of small businesses – they will find out how to spot an opportunity, develop an idea and turn that into a small business.They will then look at how it can be built into a successful large business.All students are set topic based homework tasks based on developing and securing their understanding of key terms and theory which are crucial to the course – this involves tasks such as matching activities, creating flashcards and revision for key terms tests / end of topic assessments.This homework is set approximately once per timetable cycle (every 2 weeks).All BTEC work is graded at Pass (P), Merit (M), Distinction (D) or Distinction* (D*).Respectively, these are equivalent to either C, B, A or A* grades at GCSE.Year 10 assessment Unit 1 – Setting up a Business Additional information about the course can be found using the hyperlink below. BTEC First Award in Business - Ed Excel/Pearson The BTEC First Award in business introduces students to the areas of enterprise, finance, marketing and recruitment and selection.The qualification will appeal to learners who wish to either set up their own business, move into employment or progress onto further study.The Pearson BTEC Level 1/Level 2 Tech Award in Enterprise, is for learners who wish to acquire knowledge and skills through vocational contexts by studying the knowledge, behaviours and skills related to researching, planning, pitching and reviewing an enterprise idea as part of their Key Stage 4 learning.
